Indian Institute of Information Technology Raichur invites applications from eligible, motivated, and research-oriented candidates for admission to its Ph.D. programmes commencing in the July 2026 Session. Applications are invited under the following categories:

  • Regular Full-Time Ph.D with Institute Teaching Assistantship/Centrally Funded Fellowship/ Sponsorship/Project Support/Self-financed mode
  • Direct Ph.D.
  • External / Part-Time / Working Professional Ph.D.

About IIIT Raichur

Indian Institute of Information Technology Raichur is one of the newly established IIITs under the Public-Private Partnership model of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Located in Raichur, Karnataka, the Institute commenced its academic activities in August 2019 with its first batch of Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria and Financial Assistance

Admission to the Ph.D. programme shall not automatically imply the award of financial assistance. Financial assistance, wherever applicable, shall be subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria, merit, performance in the selection process, availability of sanctioned positions/funds, satisfactory academic progress, and approval of the Institute.

Selection Process

  • Candidates possessing a valid centrally funded fellowship such as UGC-JRF, CSIR-JRF, DST-INSPIRE, NBHM, or any other equivalent national-level fellowship recognized by the Institute may be shortlisted directly for interview, subject to fulfilment of the prescribed eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates not possessing any valid centrally funded fellowship and seeking admission as Regular Full-Time Ph.D. scholars shall be required to appear physically at IIIT Raichur for a written examination followed by an interview.
  • For the Sponsored, Self-financed, Project-funded, Direct, External / Part-Time / Working Professional categories, the candidate shall be required to appear physically at IIIT Raichur for a written examination followed by an interview.
  • Final selection shall be based on academic record, performance in the written examination and/or interview, research aptitude, suitability for the proposed area of research, availability of supervisors, and Institute norms.

Application Procedure

Applications shall be accepted only through the online mode. Candidates are advised to carefully read the detailed admission notification, eligibility criteria category-wise requirements, financial assistance details, and application instructions available on the official Ph.D. admission page of the Institute before submitting the application.

Incomplete applications, applications submitted through any mode other than the prescribed online form, or applications received after the stipulated deadline shall not ordinarily be considered. The duly completed online application form must be submitted on or before 30.06.2026. The Institute shall not be responsible for any delay caused by technical issues, network problems, incomplete submission, or any other reason attributable to the applicant.

Important Note: The Institute reserves the right to modify, defer, or cancel the admission process, in full or in part, without assigning any reason. The decision of the Institute shall be final and binding in all matters relating to Ph.D. admission .
