About the Program

IIIT Raichur offers Ph.D. programmes in contemporary research areas across Computer Science & Engineering and Mathematics & Computing, with financial support available to eligible scholars as per institute norms. Indian Institute of Information Technology Raichur is one of the newly established IIITs under the Public-Private Partnership model of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Located in Raichur, Karnataka, the Institute commenced its academic activities in August 2019 with its first batch of Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering.

The Institute is committed to building a strong academic and research ecosystem in Comzputer Science, Mathematics, Computing, and allied interdisciplinary areas. With its transition to the permanent campus from the forthcoming semester, IIIT Raichur is entering an important phase of academic and infrastructural growth, providing a vibrant environment for teaching, research, innovation, and technology-driven development.

The Institute encourages applications in a broad spectrum of research domains. The areas listed below are only indicative in nature and are not exhaustive or restrictive.

Note: Research topics are not limited to the above-mentioned thrust areas and can be decided based on the mutual interest of the guide and the Ph.D. scholar.

Program Categories

Regular

Full-time candidates working exclusively on their Ph.D. degree. Institute fellowship available to eligible candidates as per norms. Eligible for hostel accommodation.

Direct

Full-time candidates admitted directly to the Ph.D. program. Institute fellowship available to eligible candidates. Eligible for hostel accommodation.

External/Working Professional

Part-time candidates who are regular employees of academic institutes, industries, or R&D laboratories. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from employer required. Fellowship not provided by institute. Hostel accommodation subject to availability.

Applicants are advised to read the following instructions carefully and follow each step strictly while making the payment:

  1. Access the SBI Collect portal: onlinesbi.sbi.bank.in/sbicollect
  2. Search for institute name: INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RAICHUR
  3. Select INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RAICHUR from the displayed list
  4. Choose payment option: "PhD Application Fee – May 2026"
  5. Enter the required details and proceed with payment using available payment modes
  6. After successful payment, download and save the payment receipt for future reference

Important: You must save the proof of payment to upload at the time of application submission.

Application Procedure

Only online applications are accepted. Applicants must use the common application form for both Computer Science & Engineering and Mathematics & Computing departments.

Selection Process

The admission process consists of Screening Test and/or Interview as applicable. The list of selected candidates will be announced on the institute website approximately within two weeks of the interview date. Selected candidates will also be notified via email.
