PhD Cell

The PhD Cell of the Indian Institute of Information Technology Raichur facilitates and coordinates the academic and administrative processes associated with the Institute’s Doctoral Programme. It works closely with the competent authority, academic departments, supervisors, Doctoral Research Committees, research scholars, and the Academic and Research & Development sections to ensure the effective implementation of the Institute’s PhD regulations and academic procedures.

The PhD Cell is committed to promoting academic integrity, research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the timely progression of research scholars throughout their doctoral journey at IIIT Raichur.

What the Cell Supports

The Cell supports the various stages of the doctoral programme, including PhD admissions, registration, coursework, constitution of Doctoral Research Committees, monitoring of research progress, conduct of research seminars and comprehensive examinations, submission of periodic reports, thesis-related procedures, and other academic matters concerning PhD scholars.

Major Responsibilities

Coordinating the PhD admission process, including scrutiny and verification of applications, shortlisting, written tests, and interviews.
Facilitating the registration of newly admitted PhD scholars and maintaining relevant academic records.
Coordinating the constitution and meetings of Doctoral Research Committees.
Monitoring the academic and research progress of PhD scholars in accordance with the Institute’s PhD regulations.
Coordinating coursework, comprehensive examinations, registration seminars, progress seminars, and other doctoral programme requirements.
Facilitating matters related to fellowship enhancement, extension, continuation, and other academic recommendations.
Coordinating pre-submission seminars, thesis submission, appointment of examiners, and subsequent thesis evaluation processes.
Maintaining records of PhD scholars, research progress, committee recommendations, and doctoral programme activities.
Assisting the Institute in implementing policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening the doctoral and research ecosystem.
